[18:16]  1 tn Heb “stretched.” Perhaps “his hand” should be supplied by ellipsis (see Ps 144:7). In this poetic narrative context the three prefixed verbal forms in this verse are best understood as preterites indicating past tense, not imperfects.

[18:16]  2 tn Heb “mighty waters.” The waters of the sea symbolize the psalmist’s powerful enemies, as well as the realm of death they represent (see v. 4 and Ps 144:7).

[31:4]  3 tn Heb “bring me out.” The translation assumes that the imperfect verbal form expresses the psalmist’s confidence about the future. Another option is to take the form as expressing a prayer, “free me.”

[65:11]  4 tn Heb “your good,” which refers here to agricultural blessings.

[65:11]  5 tn Heb “and your paths drip with abundance.”

[104:14]  6 tn Heb “causes the grass to sprout up.”

[104:14]  7 tn Heb “for the service of man” (see Gen 2:5).

[104:14]  8 tn Heb “to cause food to come out from the earth.”
